Hanna Moisala

Moisala is working on a multidisciplinary piece combining circus and gastronomy.

Finnish contemporary circus artist Hanna Moisala will participate in an artist residency at Creation Center Imaginarius in Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, from March 3–14, 2025. During these two intensive weeks, Moisala will work on a multidisciplinary artistic piece that merges contemporary circus with gastronomy, multimedia art, and sound and light art.

The project involves collaboration with artist Inês Coelho da Silva, who will bring his expertise on the intersection between art and food, a key element of the work in development. The artistic research focuses on integrating natural materials, particularly tree trunks and kelo, a dead tree known for its natural aging process.

This residency, set in Portugal’s Aveiro district, aims to strengthen the collective vision of the group and foster ongoing dialogue among its members, shaping the final form of the piece. With her experimental and multidisciplinary approach, Hanna Moisala pushes the boundaries of contemporary circus in constant interaction with other artistic languages.

The residency is supported by the Finnish Institute in Madrid as part of the NextGenerationEU-funded pARTir initiative.
