Art graphics as a bridge between cultures
The new autumn exhibition at the Finnish Institute in Madrid is Poetry, Mythology and Allegory – Art Graphics as a Bridge of Cultures, which opens on 12 September.
The art graphic artists Rita Vargas and Hanna Varis have created around twenty works that combine the traditional influences of the art graphic working method in a transnational way and also embody them in visual allegorical perspectives, where the feminist aspect is seen as a poetic storytelling element.
Rita Vargas and Hanna Varis are based and work in Finland. They are united by their colourful expressions, which differ from those of the Nordic countries, and by the fact that their production is based on traditional graphic art methods. The works are inspired by mythology and myths and combine Finnish and Portuguese perspectives through art.
Poetry, Mythology and Allegory is the artists’ first exhibition in Madrid and will be on display at the Finnish Institute in Madrid until 25 October.
Rita has received a working grant from the Finnish Cultural Foundation. The support from the Finnish Institute in Madrid is part of the pARTir initiative funded by NextGenerationEU.
